Despite worries by residents about noise and disturbance, planning officials in Felixstowe are expected to give the go-ahead to a project to create a new leisure and entertainments complex on the site of the town’s bingo hall and cinema.
The site’s owners, Palatial Leisure, are planning to build a 52-room hotel, a health and fitness club, bars, a restaurant and an entertainments complex.
An original application contained a casino but, following protests, the plan was rejected by the local authority. The second scheme does not include a casino, although – depending on the proposed deregulation of the gaming industry – one may well be provided in the future.
