YO! Sushi has signed a major franchising deal that will see the brand open multiple sites in Kuwait. In its first overseas venture, YO! has joined forces with the Kuwaiti Safat Catering Services Company (SCSC), with private and government contracts across the country, to open a 6,000sq ft operation on the Gulf coast. Chair Simon Woodroffe says that after four years, the YO! brand is ready to go global: When I first opened YO! Sushi we were approached by operators all over the world looking to exploit the brand. Four long years later we have built an organisation mature enough to have overseas business relationships. YO! is also targeting the American market as its biggest growth opportunity, and has appointed senior US industry figures to help plan a strategic roll out. The first trial sushi-bar is scheduled to open next summer, run by an American operator.
