English Heritage has warned that over 1,500 of the country's listed buildings and monuments have fallen into its 'at-risk' category. Chair Sir Neil Cossons said that almost half of them could be brought back into viable economic use if funding could be found. Last year English Heritage granted to £5.7m at-risk buildings, but to save all properties would cost £400m. Cossons urged the new government to 'recognise the enormous regeneration potential' such an investment would achieve.
